Okay. You walk with a cane to assist you in getting around.
Well, no longer will you be seen as a frail target for individuals with bad intentions.
Cane Masters has long been teaching seniors and those who rely on canes how to take care of business like a Kung Fu Master. Canes have a rich history of being used a weapons centuries ago. In fact, next to the rock and the stick, it is the oldest weapon around.
Though these worldwide classes tend to focus on the senior population, all ages are welcome. The great benefit of learning self-defense is that it gives you the ability to live your life with resiliency and confidence.

This is so cool. Could also be "walking stick fighting" to empower women to feel more confident taking solo walks in risky areas.
Wow. I fancy a go at cane-fu fighting!!
Me too
"Hooah!"
Cool!
Wish I could send my mother to these classes. She rambles around London parks on her own at 83, quite oblivious to the dangers.
Cool -- just shows you, don't mess with the old guys and girls.
Having been raised to revere the elderly, I fear that is one more thing rapidly disappearing from our society. There was a time no one would have laid a hand on them...
I'm glad someone is looking out for them!

This is way cool. I've seen "House" use his cane in offbeat and unique ways.

I haven't been reading your blog for a bit. Your post today was written for me.
I use to have a blog but due to health problems I stopped blogging. I love to follow and lurk and Dr Deb, your blog is so helpful.
At the age of 52, I have come to terms that I have to use a cane. It's been a rough two year journey but I've accepted my physical hurdle and now i will find a class in 'Cane Fu Fighting'. It does not have to be a sign of weakness.
Your post has really empowered me.
thanks for your upbeat blog
Winrob,
I remember you visiting before. I am so glad the post helped make you feel empowered. I hope your pop in again. Please take care and let us know how your Cane Fu training goes!
this is wicked! I will have to tell my father-in-law about cane-fu :) He is quite young, but uses a cane due to several spinal injury/operations, this could probably give him something positive about the cane use.
Thanks Dr.Deb!
Love it!
Cool, it is true that stick fighting has been around forever, but nobody had thought to use it for elders. It is also a sad statement on our society that the the elderly have to learn to protect themselves like that. We should be more civilized.
Good for cave men.
