I'm not a big shopper, but i got an A+ with 90% ...however, I used to work in Market Research ...so, I knew most of the answers, and those that I didn't know, I was able to figure out by the way the question was asked, because ... I used to work in Market Research *grin*
So, I guess I cheated. Had I been stopped to be asked these questions, I'd have been excluded from the sample, because of my history.
i also got a 3/10 F, and I think i'm actually proud of that. im also going to be using a simpsons picture today too, strange coincidence!

"Retail Anthropology" - who knew? But it makes sense once you think about it.

Alas, Deb, I join you in your F. That's a hell of an admission for a guy who does business writing as a sideline. On the other hand, I'm not a real big shopper. As a male I am essentially an impulse buyer with a destination in mind. I know what I want, when I see it, I buy it. And I do know that marketing for males and females have to take entirely different psychologies into account.
I'm with dreaming again...I got an A+, 10/10. I too would have been excluded from the sample...my college major was retail marketing/management. I found out I hated it though! :P

I got a C (60%), although I was always one to argue my teachers for a retake.
What a fun way to start the morning! I got a D..I'm surprised at that, I loathe shopping. I got all the direction things wrong - would it make a different if you're a lefthander like me I wonder? I love the concept of the 'Butt brush' though. That made me :)

i got an F and im proud of that because shopping is a pain the butt marketing theories or whatever else might work, because for me its about get in get out and bugger all the stop and look;)

Shopping psychology is scary. My old Psychology teacher said that in one chain of supermarkets pumps a chemical round the building that imitates the smell of freshly cooked bread - because apparently that makes everyone drool.
Also, staples that one might "pop in" for are located at the polar opposite of the entrances so you have to go all the way round (and end up buying stuff on your way) just to get the milk/bread you ran in for.
Then we were told how reward cards are a big operant conditioning scam.

Wow, that info is so interesting, and a bit unnerving. Along a similar line, I read somewhere that in casinos, fresh air with a higher level of oxygen is pumped in because it makes people feel good....and if you feel good you spend more.

I learned "influence" from the best. One of my closest friends in middle school taught me all I know. The method is nothing really special ~ you just keep talking until you get your way. Eventually they give in... just to get you to shut up! :)

Yippee! This is a great quiz for my blog, thanks for the tip. I didn't expect it but I got 9/10 (I got #2 wrong, picked red). Two caveats: I'm a huge Paco Underhill fan (sell his books on my site) and I loathe, detest, HATE shopping!!!!
Speaking of Paco Underhill, I cannot stress the importance of reading his books if you're in retail. Particularly if you hope to weather the changes that the aging populace of baby boomers will wrought in the marketplace.

Well, I got a 3 as well. I thought I'd get more. Perhaps if they used layman's words I might have done better. How was I supposed to know what an anthology factor is? My goodness! so, had they used REAL words we might have all scored better. LOL.
The one I knew I'd get right is where they put the men's suits or the best items. It's in the back of the store. You know how many times I've complained about having to walk to the very back of a store to get one dag on thing? I know why but it's still frustrating to hike for one item.
Anyway.....that was a fun test.
