The Purple Nurple Optical Illusion by Walter Anthony
Time for more fun with illusions. Created by Walter Anthony, this vivid optical illusion moves despite being a still life creation.
Illusions like these are part-psychology (interpretation, imagination and memory) and part-physiology (depth perception, focus, attention and eye movement). But looking too much into the neuroscience of illusions can take the fun out of the experience.
So, just marvel in the magic of how this static object swirls, contracts and expands. And visit Mr. Anthony's webpage for more fun.

These often give me a migraine...like for real. I am not sure why? I don't like 3D movies either,
These just creep me out. They're cool, but I find them so dang creepy. I can't stand looking at them for very long
woah, that's awesome!!!!
Hi Deb,
Illusions are always very fascinating to me. Reading this article reminds me of an old chinese saying...
"Believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see".
It reminds us all that our brain, past conditions and belief systems can really change the way we view the world and our so called "reality". A deeper understanding of this may help us to stop and think twice about the perceived "drama" around us before reacting to it.
Food for thought.

Oooweee......
That's so cool but it makes me dizzy...
Mom,
You might have a very sensitive perceptive system. The good thing is that you know this and can limit your exposure to them. Sending apologies if this made your head or eyes hurt.
BPD,
Creepy because you know it isn't really moving but you register it as such. Yeah, I'm with you on that.
Dawn,
Purple nurple love.
Dr. Vin,
Wonderfully said.
Just be Real,
Be careful, now.
Angeliki,
Yes, in doses it can be fun. It can overwhelm your sensory system though.
Neat! How do they do that?! :)
Wow... if I look away from it a bit, in my peripheral vision, it moves more...
Seaspray,
It our eyes and peripheral system. The slight movements our eyes make seemingly make it feel like the photo is moving.
Deb,
Exactly!!
Wow makes the eyes water! Or is that my allergies? lol
I absolutely love this purple is my favorite color and wow I wish I could color this. I enjoyed at one time coloring mandalas.
Awesome, simply awesome
