The Power of Kindness

Research says that witnessing simple acts of everyday kindness, such as one person giving up a seat on the bus, holding a door open for another, or helping someone pick something that dropped to the floor can promote altruism. This pychological phenomenon that makes us feel great, lifts our emotions and motivates us to do good is called elevation. Witnessing an uplifiting act inspires us to do the same for others. In essence, kindness is contagious.

One Million Acts of Kindness Week is February 8th to the 14th. So, go start a ripple effect and be kind. For inspiration go here and to the Pay It Forward Foundation

I do this very often..Either paying for someone's coffee ( I luv seeing their reaction afterwards)..Putting money in someone's parking meter, Or just simply talking to strangers while I'm waiting for a bus etc..It also helps when I'm feeling depressed that I'm making other's feel happy.

Wow! This is so in sync with what I wrote about today too. I hope this is a special week full of good ripplings or thanks to a miserable man who taught me a lesson, "to put my affairs in order." Thanks for this double affirmation today!

One of my bucket list items is to leave a huge tip on a very small bill. This week I might start off by paying for someone's morning coffee at Starbucks when I go this week :)

Thanks for the reminder, and it's so true. A smile from someone can instantly brighten my day. Even if I'm the first to smile it makes me feel better.

Absolutely. Doesn't have to be anything big either.

I like being kind - or should I say it's like a part of me. Courteous, thoughtful, etc. A smile is so easy to offer. I agree with you all on your thoughts.

It seems so cliche' but when you give to others you give to yourself even more. This post was so timely and such a great reminder! Thank you!
