This blog toy says that my blog reading level is in the genius range. Probably due to all the psychological and medical jargon that helps to explain disorders, treatment and their origins.
I was always in special reading classes when I was younger - and felt so embarrassed that the color of my reading folder signaled that I was a poor reader and needed help.
I am still a slow reader. But patience and practice in sounding out words has helped me to kick some serious word-butt!
Just don't ask me to read aloud and or take away my spell check.

I taught myself to read when I wa 4-5..always in the top reading groups.. I can easily read 500 pages in a day...
Where did it get me? I am only self educated ( all those books!) and my reading habit is way to costly.. I am the bottom of the totem pole in an industry that I lose faith in every day..

Ha! My blog came out "elementary school" and my dot com site was "junior high school." Interesting that they'd be different. Oh well, I guess I want to reach out to the widest audience possible, right?
I was the same way with Math. Even to this day there are just some things I don't get. Aww well,I'm doing good regardless! And we have that lovely invention...the calculator!!
Your blog always struck me as intelligently written. I also had problems with reading comprehension in school when I was younger. It's amazing if I could even finish a whole book. My ADD doesn't help with that either!
I took the test and mine came back college level! It was fun!
Hahaha! I tested my blog, too. High school, eh? Heehee. Must be all the four letter words. I'm lucky it didn't come back 'reform school'!

I am glad that you have conquered your reading. Just remember everyone that you meet has SOMETHING they struggle with.. so if reading is/was your thing.. then you are just like all of us :)
Myself, pretty good at word puzzles and especially on the "IQ tests the reading/words are my best... but now you put me anywhwere near anything that requires spatial aptitude OR college level math.. NO WAY :)

That thing actually just uses a random number generator to assign reading levels. I found another blogger who tried it two times in a row and it assigned different values each time.
It said I am at high school level, but that's absurd with all the medical words I use like: osteoradionecrosis, sternocleidomastoid, and diabetic ketoacidois. LOL.
I'm sorry you are a slow reader! That is very imressive that you got your phd, then!

Ah, just another genius here, most probably because of all my philosophical mumbo-jumbo. The funny thing is, I had a very similar experience in early childhood. I always read well, but I was about as interested in elementary school as my puppy is in grapefruit ~ a boy with his head in the clouds. I was given an IQ test in third grade, I think, because they were concerned that I might have a learning disability. The scores came back the other way.
And please, please, please ~ don't take my spell check away either!!! What's that they say about birds of a feather?

Imagine using a color code for folders to indicate reading proficiency! That must have impacted self-esteem of many students...
My blog's readability was "college".
Thank goodness I got my GED, because it has me listed as "High School." :P Maybe it scans the text and realizes that the author is simply immature, in which case it'd be a more intelligent tool than I give it credit. ;)
As for the reading, I seem to be the same way with listening. I process auditory input much slower than any other modality. I prefer to watch movies on DVD with subtitles so I don't miss any dialogue, for example. All your reading issue means is that you must be hyper-developed in other areas. :)
mine keeps saying elementary level .. I keep telling myself it's ok ... I'm writing so that EVERYONE can understand ... I'm just not buying it ... *grimace*

I also hate those folders and labels. My oldest son has high IQ, yet can't spell his name correctly. They never did figure out what to do with him in school. He was bounced from Resource, to Remedial, to Gifted -- and back and forth. It was a nightmare.
I learned to read at 4 and read at the college level in 3d grade.
Perhaps as a result, I've struggled with superficiality all my life.

It's just a silly blog toy. Oh yes, the color folders were very much a tough thing to deal with. I used to curl mine by wrapping my arms and shoulders around it so no one could see the color. Such unnecessary shame.
